Climate Friends,

This is the March 2021 Climate Update.

I hope this finds you doing well.

Climate in the News

  1. Big coal users plan to burn even more in 2021 – wrong direction!
  2. With much of the West already in drought, the forecast is not good for Spring
  3. As the planet warms, summers are getting longer, winters shorter, and this is not good.

Good Climate News:

  1. Warming could stop shortly after we get to net-zero – hopeful!
  2. Iceland co. working to turn CO2 into stone (carbon capture & storage is essential to a stable future)
  3. Top electric utilities plan to help build out EV charging station network – in prep for all the electric cars soon to be offered by GM, Ford and others.

Actions we can take to make a difference for the future:

  1. If you are in a club that is doing programs via zoom, consider inviting me to be a program.  If Rotary, on the new focus area of “Protecting the Environment”.

If another club or group, on the specifics of actions we can take now to improve our kids/grandkids futures.

  1. Spread the word that climate action by all is needed to secure a livable future for all future generations.
